2019 China-New Zealand Year of Tourism – official opening ceremony

The 2019 China-New Zealand Year of Tourism official opening ceremony will be held at Te Papa on 20 February 2019, in conjunction with the Terracotta Warriors: Guardians of Immortality exhibition.

The Year of Tourism initiative was announced by the New Zealand and Chinese governments as part of an official visit from Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in March 2017.

China is our second biggest visitor market, with 450,000 visitors coming to New Zealand in the year to June 2018, and this is set to continue to grow. The Year of Tourism is an opportunity for business of all types, particular those involved with tourism, to focus on the Chinese market and build their capability so they can provide the best experience possible.

It's also an opportunity to strengthen relationships, build wider business and trade connections and enhance New Zealand's reputation in China.
