Kenny began his tourism journey by studying for a degree in International Tourism Management, with his dissertation exploring social licence. After graduating he was naturally drawn to work for Ziptrek Ecotours, which gave him an introduction into the world of eco-tourism. After a year’s employment, he decided to gain some international experience – including working for a luxury hotel resort in the Whitsundays, being hired for an RTO in British Columbia, Canada and selling winter holidays globally for a UK-based ski tour operator. Kenny returned to Ziptrek in 2017 and has been working to reinforce their stance as the pioneers in eco-exhilaration ever since!
The global pandemic has seen Kenny think differently by collaborating with those outside the tourism industry. The ‘Ziptrek as an Outdoor Venue’ concept has seen him working with the music, arts and F&B sectors to host Ziptrek’’s Treehouse Sessions, launching weddings on course and curating Educational Programmes by working with researchers and facilitators of all ages. Kenny is currently the Vice Chair of YoungTEC, whose mission is to enhance the tourism export industry by developing future leaders. Members are offered regular networking events, educational workshops, a mentoring and development programme, and invaluable, up-to-date industry knowledge.
